Project Background
The client is a European medical device manufacturer, primarily producing surgical instruments and diagnostic equipment. Medical devices have extremely high requirements for dimensional accuracy, appearance quality, and material properties. They needed a partner capable of providing a one-stop service for mold making and injection molding.
The client wanted our assistance in developing a plastic connector for a blood analyzer. This component needed a high-precision fit, high transparency, and good chemical resistance.
Our Solution
After receiving the client’s 3D drawings, our engineering team conducted a detailed feasibility assessment and proposed the following optimization solutions:
- Mold Design Optimization: Based on the product structure, we adopted a multi-cavity precision mold design and used a hot runner system to achieve efficient mold filling, ensuring product transparency and runner balance.
- Material Selection: We recommended using medical-grade PC (polycarbonate). This material combines high transparency and impact resistance and meets the ISO 10993 biocompatibility standard.
- Injection Molding Parameter Control: Temperature and pressure were strictly controlled during the molding process to ensure part dimensional accuracy reached ±0.02mm.
- Clean Production Environment: The entire production process is completed in a cleanroom that meets medical industry standards, avoiding micro-dust contamination.
Project Outcomes
Mold Manufacturing Cycle: 25 days
The first batch of samples passed functional and appearance tests on the first attempt.
Defect rate after mass production is less than 0.3%.
Customer Satisfaction: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The customer stated that this connector performed stably during assembly and use, significantly improving the assembly efficiency of the entire device. They subsequently commissioned us to produce three other medical device accessories, establishing a long-term cooperative relationship.
